Sonus Fabology - Advanced Car Audio Fabrication Training

A no-nonsense approach to Advanced Car Audio Fabrication. Throw away your jigsaws forever!

EAGER BEAVERS.

We arrived At Sonus Car Audio of Clarksville, one day early, to get a Lay of the land, and familiarize ourselfves with what essentials would be needed. Here is what our visit revealed.

Fabology Instructor and Master Fabricator Micah Williams took us on a Three day journey of Fabrication. His Motto " I fab, you Fab, not I Fab you watch". True to his word, our training was structured out of a few basic requirements we indicated we felt we needed to learn.

DAY ONE

Needless to say, we were extremely excited and arrived half an hour early for class - Day One.

From the start of the classroom session, the years of industry expertise shone thru in Micah's presentation of the discussion topics and his direct relation to the industry trends in the short and long term future were real eye openers for sure.

The wood shop session kicked off with moderate pace, with an orientation of the various types of tooling that are available at the shop and detailed explainations on them. Armed with a strong foundation from the morning session, Micah took a few minutes to design our projects in his mind.

At the end of day one, which concluded long after the lights went dim, we had a perfect structure, design laid out, base elements completed. After a long 13hour day, we retreated to the hotel.

DAY TWO

Early again, "we opened the shop". Day two started out with a lot of pace. Micah, suggested to us complexed elements to add to our designs, to build upon what we learnt, and to push our abilities, and show us new techniques to achieve unimaginable end products.

Up to this point, we were only fabricating at one plane, in one dimension. Kick in 3D sculpting. Have you ever wondered how fabricators sculpted large elements with multiple large radii arcs? We were amazed at Micah's training approach and the ease we were able to pick up these new skills, now being able to add these elements to our project pieces.

Day two finished off, late in the afternoon, in keeping with our norm.  Satisfied that the projects were ready for wrapping, hit the lights, we're outta the building!

DAY THREE

We begged, no more additions. Micah was full of ideas. His years of experience has filled him with all sorts of scenarios and elements that could be added to make these projects some real show pieces. We realised, that any more additions, and we'd be out of time.

FORGET WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT WRAPPING. We told ourselves the same thing.

We could not believe the subtle differences from what we were accustomed doing, to where we needed to be. New techniques coupled with proper solvent adhesives and delivery systems revealed the errors of our ways so to speak. We were able to clothe our projects in premium material, producing show worthy pieces.

Our finished projects, were well worth the rigourous three day ordeal called Fabology. We survived, and have two amazing projects, fresh out of the factory as a reminder of the experience that is FABOLOGY !!!
